So Many Options. Let Us Help.
This page was designed to help you easily compare hat styles that we stock in our shop. We carry these styles based on customer feedback and requests. We know what firefighters like!
First, please note that we are discontinuing a few hat styles and will be adding 9 new styles very soon! We are discontinuing the Flexfit 6997, New Era 1020/1120, Pacific 104C and the Richardson 212 as indicated with a (*) on the guide. We still have limited stock remaining in these styles.
So what does all of this terminology mean? Let us help...
- Material - This refers to the fabric that composes each hat style. Note that some styles are labeled as "Fade Resistant". This simply means that due to the composition of the fabric, they hold their color well. Polyester is abbreviated as "Poly". This material type resists fading. The more poly in the hat, the less likely it will fade when exposed to the sun.
Cotton material "breathes" well and is preferred by many customers, however, it is not resistant to fading. Any hat exposed to the sun that has larger percentages of cotton will fade more quickly.
- Structure - This refers to the reinforcement behind the front panels with stiff fabric giving it more structure. Structured hats won't lose their shape when you take them off your head. They provide a crisp look while unstructured caps tend to provide a more casual look. Unstructured hats are softer and fall flat when not in use.
- Profile - A hat crown height or profile simply refers to how high or low the top of the cap is. Hats with a higher profile give you more headroom and appear "taller". Lower profiles fit closer to the head.
- Style - This column describes the "fit" of the cap. The term flexible fitted refers to caps that are stretch-to-fit by its elastic sweatband and flexible sizing for a comfortable fit. They are offered in size "ranges" as opposed to truly fitted hats. Sizing for flexible fitted hats varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and sometimes even within the same brand. We proudly provide size guides on each applicable product page as well as a separate Headwear Sizing Guide under "Customer Care". Also, some of our hat styles are offered in adjustable snap back "sized" hats to provide a great fit.
- Special Sizing - We frequently have customers ask us for oversized hats as well as youth hats so we are providing that information on this guide. If you see "No" then that particular hat style is only offered in standard sizes. If you see a specified size entered, the hat style is available in standard sizes AND the listed specialty sizing. Not all colors that we stock of are available in the special sizes but this information is specified on each product page.
