We’ve put together this guide to help you compare the different hat styles we stock. All of these choices were made based on customer feedback and firefighter preferences. We know what works best, and we’re excited to share it with you!

Key Hat Features You Should Know

Each hat style has different characteristics. Here’s a quick guide to what the terminology means:

1. Material

Understanding the fabric of your hat is key to knowing how it will perform in the field.

  • Fade Resistant

    • Polyester (Poly): Resists fading and holds its color well under sun exposure. Great for long-lasting durability.

    • Cotton: Breathable and comfortable but more prone to fading when exposed to sunlight.

2. Structure

This refers to how the hat keeps its shape when not being worn.

  • Structured:

    • Reinforced front panels keep the hat's shape even when it's off your head. Provides a sharp, crisp look.

  • Unstructured:

    • Softer, more flexible hats that flatten when not in use, giving you a relaxed, casual look.

3. Profile

The profile is the height of the hat's crown—the part that sits on your head.

  • High Profile:

    • Sits higher on the head, offering more headroom and a "taller" appearance.

  • Low Profile:

    • Sits closer to the head for a snugger, more subtle fit.

4. Style

This is all about the fit and adjustability of the cap.

  • Flex-Fit:

    • Stretch-to-fit caps with an elastic sweatband. No buckles or straps—just a comfortable, snug fit. Available in size ranges like S/M, L/XL, XL/XXL, etc.

    • Note: Sizing may vary slightly between brands, so be sure to check size guides on the product page.

  • Snapback (Adjustable):

    • OSFM (One Size Fits Most). These caps come with adjustable straps at the back that are sized to fit "most", so you can tweak the fit to your liking.

    • Snapback (Adjustable, Sized). Some of our adjustable hat styles are offered in SM, OSFM, XL and/or Youth. 

5. Special Sizing

We offer hats in both oversized and youth sizes for a better fit.

  • Special Sizes Available:

    • If you see "Yes", the style is available in both standard and specialty sizes like Youth or XL.

  • Standard Sizes Only:

    • If you see "No", the hat only comes in standard adult sizes. Some colors may not be available in special sizes, so check product pages for details.
